The World Monuments Fund ("WMF") has undertaken the creation of the Constantin Brancusi Visitors Center in Targu Jiu, Romania. The Center will provide a focal point for the ensemble of four of Brancusi's most important works: The Endless Column, The Table of Silence, The Allee of the Seats, and The Gate of The Kiss. While the sculptures were restored through the efforts of the WMF after decades of neglect, it became apparent that a physical structure is needed to create more visibilitiy and encourage the development of a world-class cultural destination. Initial designs for the Center building - which will be adjacent to The Endless Column - have been completed by noted Romanian-American architect Mihai Radu. Following a series of discussions about other ways to increase visibility, WMF has retained B+C to help it bring the Center to reality. Key elements of this assignment are the development of a fundraising plan, development of an education program, and creation of a sustainable administrative and operational organization for the Center.
B+C is working to identify and analyze potential international public and private funding sources and develop an outreach strategy and implementation methodology. Prospective funding sources include individuals, major donors, corporations, foundations, public organizations (such as the European Union and other multinational bodies) and members of the international Romanian community.
Among the major tasks of the assignment are:
