Mark Thompson

Mark possesses more than twenty years of domestic and international real estate and management consulting experience, and focuses on land use and development related issues. He began his career with the City of New York’s Department of General Services, where he was responsible for internal management consulting projects, and the Public Development Corporation, managing commercial and mixed-use projects in Manhattan. Mark has worked at several of the country’s leading commercial real estate brokerages in the areas of business development, national representation and corporate advisory services. Mark founded one of the first private real estate firms in the former USSR. Despite significant financial and political constraints, he developed commercial and residential projects, including the restoration of an historic property.

Mark received his Master of City and Regional Planning from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs/Urban Planning from the University of Southern California. He is First Vice-chair of Manhattan Community Board 6, as well as Vice Chair of the Board’s Parks, Landmarks & Cultural Affairs Committee, and is a member of the Land Use and 197-A committees. He serves on the Board of the Stuyvesant Cove Park Association and is a member of the Stuyvesant Park Neighborhood Association, as well as the American Planning Association, the Real Estate Board of NY, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
